My major is Special education and I'm studying for teacher certificate exam these days to be a teacher. Whenever I meet new people, most of them don't know about 'special education' well. They say "I know what the education is, but what the 'special' means?" Speical education is education which is for students who need special things. For example, gifted students and handicapped students need more different things than other students. But mostly, it is intended for handicapped students.
I'm studying about visual and hearing impairments, autism, learning difficulties, speech disorders and things like that. All the students who have these things need little speical things for learning. Other subjects, for example, behavior modification, teaching machines, laws are also necessary for the exam. There are always lots of things to study and it sometimes gives me a headache. Now I'm thinking it positively, however. My goal is to be a teacher and I think this exam is just a process for achieving my goal:)
I know some of people who study that for the same reason as yours and I think you guys are so great.

first of all, you have a great major~! when I was a first year student, I lived in a dormitory. At that time my room mate's major was special education. She studied very hard. I thought she was very nice. I am confident of your success :D. You will be a good teacher surely ;) - JinWoo Na.

You know, most of young Korean generation including me still aren't aware of how important it is to live together with people who need special care... like the care which you are studying now especially. Maybe, you could be the right leader for developing mature Korean society in the future! I think current Korean society is lack of people like you who can choose the indepent way and go on challenging- Good luck!

I have a friend who study the special education she said that if many people know about angels who are gifted students (how pretty the word gifted student:D) they will realize how friendly they are and can’t stand meeting them. I also have been to some special center for volunteer. It was my high school spring picnic with my class students and teacher, first grade. I couldn’t forget that students who are gifted and handicapped are wonderfully pure and looks happy with everything. Sorry for them I didn’t visit again but I can’t forget the experience with the Angels. :) I am pretty sure you will be good teacher for them and hope to achieve your goal and give them your love♡ :p

I know To be a teacher, it is very difficult for them to study about that.I would say " When you are bright eyed and bushy tailed, you should try to achieve your goal. you have to effort for you dreams.^^" I also want to be English teacher who give stuents special learning. so, While reading your poste, I could share similar mind with you. I think Special Education is unfamiliar with not only me but other people. And it seems too difficult. Are there any problems or happenings when you study your major?^^ And I hope you to be a great teacher! You can!

Jiae/ Wow you did a nice volunteer work. Actually, whenever I go to special school for practice, it's really hard to control them and after I meet them, I'm really exhuasted. Strangely, however, my memory with them always remains happily though it was a really hard one:)

ReplyDeleteI meet few children who has handicapped every other week in Daegu University. I participate the program ass a volunteer, we usually play game, drawing and making together. But sometimes, I feel that i need somone's helping whose know well about them. Sometimes I can't understand their communication- and I don't know how we can communicate. We are different how to communicate. When I want communicate i usually talk. But they have other way to communicate. I want to sensitive in their language.-A Ryeon
