My lovely Shabu Shabu!

Do you like Shabu Shabu?

'Shabu Shabu' is Japanese food and its name means 'laping' in japanese. People blanch meat, vegetables and seafood in boiling meat broth and eat them. According to one opinion, this dish was first made in a battlefield when Chingiz Khan ruled the continent. Soldiers cooked lamb and vegetables by using their helmets on the spot.

Various ingredients can be included in Shabu Shabu. First, you should put vegetables and meat slices in boiling meat broth. Because beef stock and the water of vegetables make the meat broth more clean and delicious. Next, put seafood, and noodles, finally.

I first knew this dish when I just graduated from high school. It was a very cold winter. After having a graduation ceremony, I and my friends were really sorry to say goodbye. So we went to a Shabu Shabu restaurant. It was kind of a buffet. People could serve food themselves and make their own Shabu Shabu. As it was the last time with my high school friends, so this dish has remained as a delicious dish in my memory.

Yesterday evening was very cold and my mom said she wanted to eat hot food. Then Shabu Shabu came accross in my mind. So I suggested her to go to have Shabu Shabu together. My mom agreed, and we went to a Shabu Shabu restaurant near our apartment.

The restaurant that my mom and I went to was really crowded. The winter is coming and maybe people wanted to have hot meals like my mom. We barely had a seat and had delicious hot Shabu Shabu. I was happy when shrimp was changed its color into red in the boiling meat broth. Haha:)

Whenever I eat Shabu Shabu, it brings back such happy memories. It's a heart-warming dish to me. Why don't you try Shabu Shabu this upcoming winter? Have a warm winter with hot Shabu Shabu. :)

  9. Have you eatten Chinese hot pot? It is so popular in China. Hot pot restaurants are especially popular during the winter season when the city cools down and diners are looking for a nice hot meal. And Chinese prefer instant-boiled mutton and beef to pork.
