Have you heard about 'Tuna's tears alcohol'?
In Korean, it is called '참치눈물주'.
A few days ago, in an English grammar class, my partner asked me what is unusual food or drink that I've had. So I answered "I've tried Tuna's tears alcohol". Then she was embarrassed. "What on earth is that?"
When I was a high school student, my mom and I were invited to an extremely expensive Japanese restaurant by my mom's friend. We had a full-course Japanese meal. As I really like Japanese food, I was enjoying lots of nice dishes. Then a waiter came to our room and gave us 3 cups of alcohol. It was a really small quantity and clear colorless liquid. The waiter said it is 'Tuna's tears alcohol'.
EH?? We were really surprised. I've never seen crying fish and it's impossible to make fish cry. (Someone in the class also said like this) I wondered why it is called like that. The waiter explained about it with a smile.
Tuna's tears alcohol is made of the eye lens of tuna. They mash the eye lens and mix it with soju. You know, fish's eyes are well known as a great dish. Fish's eyes are full of vitamin E and other good nutrients like gelatine, collagen are contained. Japan is the number one country for consuming tuna in the world, so this dish is well known in Japan.
It tastes, so to speak, little salty. Though it is alcohol, it is more mild than soju. Well, I can't explain it well. Just try it if you have a chance to go to Japanese restaurants:)
OMG! I've never heard tuna's tears alcohol. I thought my dad during reading the post because my dad likes alcohol he want to try new one. So, Can I try it at Japanese restaurants? Even I sometimes go to Japanese restaurant, I didn't know it is. But I'll try to find where it is sold for my daddy^^-A Ryeon

In my opinion, it seems like there are so many chances to enjoy trying very unique quisines in Korea compared to other countries, especially U.S. I will live in Korea forever because of all the delicious food!!! And hopefully wanna try that drink which you introduced someday!
I have already heard via you. When I heard the Tuna's tears alcohol at first. I was SO SO SO surprised how to make alcohol with the Tuna and why it is called like that!!!!!!

hahahah right, I remember the day we had that conversation. xP I laughed a lot when Scott said was there a crying fish or something like this. lol I imaginied a crying fish and couldn't help but laugh hahaha

A Ryeon/ If you go to professional Japanese restaurnats and order a full-course meal, then some restaurants give it as a free to the customer.(I've heard so) I guess your father will like it!

I first know the Tuna's tears alcohol. But I have never tasted that yet~!! I want to try that~!! hehe ~ But my face flush after just one glass of soju. I think that I have to a cup of Tuna's tears alcohol in moderation~!~ hehehe~

TT thinking of some images that people work with tuna’s eyes I feel little scared. It sounds like really expensive drinking only one shot of tear of tuna ;; anyway if I have chance to drink the unusual beverage I want to try as I like something excitement ~! I have tried scorpion then. haha
